This Ermita del Apóstol Santiago is located in the Carvajales within the village of Humilladero. Some local people believe that this was a sanctuary that was used years ago as part of the town’s activities. Therefore, its origin dates back to the 18th century, when the Carvajales district was founded, this hermitage being one of the Cortijos.
One of its attractions on entering the Ermita is that at the door of the chapel there is a tombstone commemorating the place. In the inscriptions it has, it is highlighted that it was built in the year 1760. According to some locals, it is said that the chapel collapsed over time and was rebuilt again during the 19th century.
Despite being in a key location, during the Spanish Civil War, this chapel was not the target of any looting or damage. This has ensured that it is still in good condition for the local people and all the tourists who visit it. One of its main characteristics is that it has a small altar accompanied by an old painting where you can see the apostle Santiago.
