It has become one of the most important and important festivals in the whole region.
On Carnival Saturday, the traditional parade takes place and on the same night, during a popular party with an orchestra, prizes are awarded to the best costumes.
On Carnival Sunday, Humilladero revives an ancestral tradition known as the “Chuchete de los Botijos” where everyone in costume gathers at midday in the square in a circle and throws a botijo one at a time. Whoever fails to catch the botijo and drops it is thrown out of the circle, and the last person remaining wins the game.
As you know, the carnivals of Humilladero have been declared of Tourist Interest by the Provincial Council of Malaga, being a public celebration with great participation by the residents of the village as well as the neighbouring towns. The prestige of this celebration lies in the spectacular parades with orchestra and of course the costume contest by categories that works as an attraction for people from all over the region.
